🌕 Ktm 690 Enduro Vs Tenere 700
Choice advice: 2021 Ktm 890 vs 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 xcx vs 2021 Yamaha Tenere 7? All three are in my budget. Riding will be 80% pavement, 20% dirt roads to OHV trails. I’ve ridden the KTM 400 miles and really liked it, but I’m leery of reliability concerns. I have a Triumph now (street triple) and love it, and this Tiger is fully kitted
The obvious comparison to make is to put the Aprilia Tuareg 660 against and Yamaha Ténéré 700 and the base model KTM 890 Adventure, and against those three the Aprilia hits my criteria the best.
What is different: The Tenere has a wider gear spread — 3.06 compared to 2.60. Below 5,000 rpm, the Tenere has more power. Above 7,500 rpm, the Tuareg has more. Valve adjustment interval is 12,000 miles on the Tuareg vs. 26,000 for the Tenere. Tuareg has a higher compression ratio and requires premium fuel.

690 enduro R. You want a 690 Enduro R. It shreds sports bikes on the street. It will do single track. It will do emergency extreme enduro. It will sit all day on 120kph, the screen keeps wind off your chest, ergo seat is decent, heated grips are awesome.
A new rubber bumper has been introduced as well to increase performance on energy absorption in case of bottoming. High-torque CP2 engine. Yamaha’s iconic 689 cc liquid-cooled in-line two-cylinder engine is the driving force behind the new Ténéré 700 World Raid. Featuring a 270° crankshaft that gives it a characteristic uneven firing
Jump on a KTM 690 Enduro R and you’ll know what a trail bike is. This, the Ténéré 700 is not. Oh, and the big expanse of tank that rises up in front of the rider, you’re not getting around that, there’s no pulling yourself up behind the headstock for a bar-dragging turn in the bush.
2,427. Location: Puget Island WA, The Dalles OR. The Warrenton Oregon dealer has both a 2022 690 and 701 but they’re both SM’s. They said KTM is using up the extra parts on SM’s. These will be the last 690/701’s they’ll get. #10. Mad Matt likes this. BlackdogADV , Feb 20, 2022.
I guess you now have to look at the new price of a 690 versus the Yam--the Yam is now cheaper! Ktm 990 Adventure.
Geoff lets me have a bit of a test ride on his Triumph Tiger 800 XC out in the sandy swamps of Toolara State Forest. We stumble on some fun trails and end up

I like the ktm enduro 690 a lot but it doesn’t seem like the best for moto camping. I’m strongly considering the klr 650 but part of me thinks it’s better to just save up for the Tenere 700 or the KTM adventure 790.
The ktm is an enduro, for verry technical trailriding, more competition minded. More hardcore. The tenere is a touring bike with quite good performance off-road if you have the right tires. (I will post a few pics later of a trip I made today in muddy conditions with a friend). The tenere is also crash proof. I have crashed it a lot . you can
